1783 - 1795 - Ceilon
Dutch VOC Copper Dumps

These coins were struck to meet the constantly increasing shortage of small change. The minting of Dudus anywhere but at Colombo was disapproved by Batavia. However, the Mint at Colombo was overtaxed to be able to supply Jaffna and Galle with coining material before the end of the sailing season. In agreement with the weight of the Stuivers of Colombo, Stuivers were struck in Galle, Jaffna, from 1783 and Trincomalee from 1789 under the supervision of the local employees of the Company
