Obverse : Elaborate decorative Cresent Moon and Sunface surrounded by plain and dotted circle inside raised rim.
Reverse : Branches with leaves, flowers and fruit on left and Rice Paddy scheaf on right intersecting at bottom. KEGALLA on top curved around center above year 1888. Plain and dotted circle inside raised rim.

Around the rim of the coin is engraved text in Sinhala. හ ත ර කෝ ර ලෙ ස හ කෝ ර ල තු න that names the 4 koerale and the koerala 3, in Kegalla District.

The 7 koerale regions of Kegalla District combined to a group of 4 ( හ ත ර ) and a group of 3 ( තු න ) is mentioned on the edge of this medal.

The Hathara Korele Dissawa Flag - Kegalla shown on right has Sun above the Cresent Moon facing up as in the Sun and Moon on the Lanka type IA Kahavanu, gold coin.
