A definitive decimal currency Ten cent Nickel-Brass coin. One Year type. In 1978 the metal changed to an Aluminum coin reflecting its diminishing value.
Obverse : The Armorial Ensign of Sri Lanka
Reverse : The large numeral 10 with the value TEN CENTS in Sinhala, Tamil and English below and year of issue at the bottom within a circle of the traditional Sinhala Liyavela art with Sri Lanka in Sinhala on top.
The rare Aluminium Off-Metal-Strike (OMS) of 1975 was not legal-tender.
Although not seen in circulation this coin is still legal tender.
