Obverse : Circular gear wheel like image of Sun carved deep into the slab. Below 3-dots and a small ring on right with central hole.
Reverse : A dotted grove across the slab.

The stone has two striation which is not a shadow on the scan above. The very smooth stone slab is flat. This seal fragment has an impression somewhat similar to those found on ancient silver Punch-Marked coins; however those impressions were made by punching the silver plate with a metal tool.

In the 1999 catalog by Osmund Bopearachchi and Rajah Wickramasinhe titled Ruhuna. An Ancient Civilization Re-visited , they are listed under Seals. Stone seals are rare items. Of the 29 Seals (J.1-J.29) listed with various symbols 5 are in stone. None of them have a symmetrical geometric design as seen on this seal. It was obtained from the same collector who provided most of the items for that book.

If anyone has information on the age of items like it please let me know details about it.

The Seal was scanned at 300 dpi and displayed at 300 dpi. It was obtained in 2001 December from Mr A. Ratnayaka a collector in Katharagama, Lanka, from the small collection he sent for display at the Sri Lanka Numismatic Society 25th Anniversary exhibition.
