In the 1999 catalog by Osmund Bopearachchi and Rajah Wickramasinhe titled Ruhuna. An Ancient Civilization Re-visited , items like it are listed under Lead Objects and although a number of coils (M.56-M.60) of thick wire with 2 or 3 rounds are listed and illustrated none appear like this roll of flat metal sheet. I wonder if it was a scroll which had some text written on it. It was obtained from the same collector who provided most of the items for that book.

An image of the top showing the multiple rounds of the roll and central hole which is also flattened. About six rounds are visible.
