A small Coin Pot in which a number of tree and svastika coins were found in Akurugoda in area of Tissamaharama. Age unknown.

Side : Coin pot with a small openin on top of pt. No lip remaining.
Bottom : Very jaggered outside surface shown on bottom.

Five large terracotta pots are listed I.1-I.5 under Money Boxes and Coin Hoards in the 1999 catalog by Osmund Bopearachchi and Rajah Wickramasinhe titled Ruhuna. An Ancient Civilization Re-visited . The coin pot above was obtained directly from the same collector who provided most of the items for that book. Need to compare with if overall dimensions of pots illustrated which are not give in catalog.

I need to photograph these larger items but for now the Terracotta coin pot was scanned at 100dpi and displayed at 100dpi. It was obtained in 2001 December from Mr A. Ratnayaka a collector in Katharagama, Lanka.
