The copper Eighth Bazaruco with Armillary Globe and Cross struck probably in Colombo, fort São Lourenço for circulation in Ceilão, and attributed to the reign of D. João III (1521-1557).

Reverse : Globe within dotted circle, 3-prong on top.

Krause Lists 1/4 Bazaruco with weight 1.2 grams as KM #1 . Gomes gives the weight range of 0.6-0.9 grams for the 1/4 Bazaruco, and 0.25 to 0.50 grams for the 1/8 Bazaruco. The weight of the Bazaruco differed considerable, depending on material, location of the factory and period.
