A commemorative two rupee cupro-nickel coin was issued by Central Bank of Sri Lanka for circulation in July 2001 to mark the 50th Anniversary of the Colombo Plan.
Obverse : COLOMBO PLAN at the apex, right and left along
periphery in Sinhala, Tamil and English with the official
of the Colombo Plan at the center, and the period `1951-2001' below
it. The Colombo Plan theme PLANNING PROSPERITY TOGETHER'
in two lines of English appear at the top and bottom of this logo
within a plain circle. A bead circle along the outer rim of coin.
Reverse : Large numeral 2 appears with the value TWO RUPEES in Sinhala, Tamil and English superimposed on the figure. SRI LANKA in Sinhala appear at the apex of the coin and in Tamil and English on left and right side. The year of issue 2001 is at the bottom.
The cupro nickel coin has been minted to the existing standard Rs. 2/- in circulation and has identical reverse side.
