A small Flag Pin that was issued by Central Bank of Sri Lanka on 1998, February, 4th to mark the 50th Anniversary of Sri Lanka regaining Independence, together with the plastic Two Hundred rupee note and three commemorative coins; a Bi-metal 10 rupee coin that circulated; a five thousand rupee gold sovereign proof coin; an one thousand rupee crown-sized silver proof coin.

Back : Text CENTRAL BANK / SRI LANKA - 1998 raised in two lines above top of welded pin.

The text at back of Pin indicates that this is a commemorative item made for the Central Bank of Sri Lanka in 1998.

Mr Fred Medis says that this flag Pin was sold by Bank of Ceylon for Rs50 with the 50th Anniversary of Independence Commemorative coins. However the Ceylon Daily News media report does not mention this Pin.

The Pin was won at Auction by Mr Fred Medis at 2013 February meeting of Sri Lanka Numismatic Society. Scanned at 600 dpi and displayed at 300 dpi
